The Fort Martial Arts

Martial Arts Disciplines

The Martial Arts program, Fort MMA offers, is divided into three disciplines; Personal Defense System, Submission Grappling, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. In addition we offer a children’s martial art program for kids between 5 and 12 years of age.

Youth Martial Arts

Kids not Dabbing

Children’s program is designed to give students confidence and leadership skills to face life’s challenges. We emphasize character development to foster a positive attitude to help resolve and avoid conflicts before they start. We give children an opportunity to learn effective self-defense while having fun and staying fit. Our program incorporates stand-up martial arts and grappling into a singular comprehensive program. Students will safely practice skills that will help them diffuse, prevent, and handle threatening situations. We offer two levels of martial arts for children.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, known as “the gentle art,” is a ground-based martial art that uses leverage and physics, rather than strikes, to subdue an opponent or attacker. BJJ is designed to teach you how to defend yourself during an altercation in which you are thrown or fall to the ground. It is the perfect complement to our PDS program which focuses heavily on stand-up technique. In BJJ students wear a Gi, the traditional martial arts uniform. The Gi can be used to submit an opponent. BJJ also offers great health benefits. You will lose weight, increase your flexibility, relief some stress, and much more! If want to learn more, come on in for a free trail. You will not regret it!

Submission Grappling

Submission Grappling is a martial art that focuses on clinch and ground fighting with the aim of obtaining a submission through the use of submission holds. This martial art is similar to BJJ. However, submission grapplers do not wear a gi. Instead they wear board short and rash guards. Submission Grappling stems from martial arts like Judo, Greco-Roman wrestling, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and Sambo. This martial art is known to be heavily used in Mixed Martial Arts. You do not have to be a fighter to learn it. We offer fundamental classes for individual from all walks of life.

Personal Defense System (PDS)

PDS is a system of personal defense with a strong emphasis on Muay Thai Kickboxing. Muay Thai has separated itself from other striking arts due to its practicality and overwhelming success in mixed martial arts competition. It involves punches, kicks, knees, and elbows. In our program, you will learn the basics of the Muay Thai, in a safe and gradual manner. In addition to striking, students will learn practical self-defense techniques and how to apply these to real life situations. Students can pursue contact sparring after reaching the level of green belt, but will never be required to spar while learning the art.
